"The Kafunjo Community Project gives way more than it has ever taken.”

Our Mission

While The Kafunjo Community Project has been around since 2013, The Kafunjo Community Project - US, Inc. is a nonprofit organization we founded in 2021 to better support the Project. Our mission as an organization is to assist Bruno with his dream of pulling children out of unsafe living conditions and setting them on a path for a more stable, hopeful, and brighter future. The Kafunjo Community Project - US, Inc. aids the Project in raising funds to provide children with shelter, food, clothes, medical care, free education, and much more. They struggle a lot and it is our goal to see this Project to a place where they can finally thrive. Additionally, we pride ourselves in providing support to Bruno and his family. He and his wife, Irene, work persistently and selflessly in order to care for these children. Because of their sacrificial nature, they are the only people on Kafunjo’s staff who haven’t been able to afford a home. They are beloved by us and it is our honor to assist them in providing for their needs as well.

Meet Onesmus!

Onesmus lives at the orphanage at The Kafunjo Community Project. Both of his parents are alive but they are separated and are very poor. Onesmus left home at just 16 years old because he was suffering and his family was abusive. Prior to living at the orphanage, Onesmus was looking after cows for rich men in Uganda. He did not get paid for this job, was only offered one meal a day, and his employers were very mean to him. He was struggling, hungry, and didn’t have enough clothes. He shared that children in Uganda are generally not treated well. When Onesmus first came to the Project, he was initially just looking for a job but Bruno took him in to stay at the orphanage which allowed him to go back to school again. Onesmus says he is very happy today because the Project has changed his life, has given him everything he wants, and because he is loved. He has now graduated primary school and continues to live at the orphanage while pursuing an even higher level of education.
